Rosie is with us for several months while we treat SEVERE Separation Anxiety.
Rosie has NEVER played with toys or even shown an interest in them.
The “narrative” for her has always been that “she doesn’t play”. Be careful of the stories you tell yourself about your dog.
As we work on supporting her core emotional issues at her level and at her pace, more and more of her true, and sweet, and playful personality SPONTANEOUSLY emerge.
Teaching a dog to genuinely be playful who’s “never played with toys” would never occur like this with conventional methods and approaches - Spontaneous change in personality and disposition!
If you’re struggling with any severe behavior, stay the course, stick with your dog and be patient and watch them bloom into the dog you know is in there.
Be their advocate by digging in and learning all you can and learning how to do these things well. Give them all the support they need in order to be successful at each step and don’t push them.
Miracles happen. And with TBTE, miracles like this happen every day
